Construction Foreman (Residential) 

Reports To: Operations Manager

 

Compensation: Negotiable

Location: Field-Based (Project Sites)


Shift Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Mon. - Fri.; 8:00am - 4:30pm Sat

Position Summary

We’re seeking an experienced foreman to supervise and coordinate the daily activities on a residential construction site, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This individual will lead a crew of construction workers, assign tasks, monitor progress, and manage resources, while adhering to safety regulations and quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Coordination: Oversee daily operations, assign tasks to crew members, and ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications. Must obtain and report daily progress with photos and time tracking for subcontractors. Direct all on-site construction activities including work sequencing, manpower, material flow, and inspections. Ensure job site cleanliness and professional appearance at all times. Oversees daily operations at a construction site. 
     

  • Scheduling and Progress Monitoring: Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and identify potential delays or issues. Direct point of contact for Project Manager to communicate delays or potential problems. 
     

  • Safety and Quality Control: Enforce safety regulations, monitor quality standards, and ensure the safety of the work environment. 
     

  • Resource Management: Manage manpower, materials, and equipment, ensuring they are adequate and efficiently used. 
     

  • Training and Mentoring: Train and mentor crew members, providing guidance and feedback to improve their skills and performance. Hires, trains, and manages construction workers. Responsible for evaluations and performance tracking. Ensures skillsets align with the 30-day trial period and approves hiring transition. 
     

  • Communication: Communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress and any issues that may arise. 
     

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise on the job site, finding solutions and ensuring work can continue efficiently. 

Qualifications

  • Must be a working foreman
     

  • 4+ years of field leadership experience on residential construction projects.
     

  • Minimum 10 years experience in the field
     

  • Specialty knowledge of at least 3 trades (5+ preferred)
     

  • Deep understanding of construction methods, sequencing, site logistics, and subcontractor coordination
     

  • Ability to oversee proper handling of materials and release schedule for crew
     

  • Punctual and reliable means of transportation (required)
     

  • Proficient in reading blueprints, construction documents, and schedules (Microsoft Project or similar platforms)
     

  • OSHA 10 certification preferred, not required; strong commitment to safety excellence
     

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
     

  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred
